H κατηγορία για την «Καλύτερη Ταινία» είναι το μεγάλο γεγονός της βραδιάς των Οσκαρ, όμως η ξεχωριστή μαγεία δίνει και τη στιγμή που το χρυσό ειδώλιο θα δοθεί στο τραγούδι μιας ταινίας.

Αρκετά από τα βραβευμένα τραγούδια έχουν μελετηθεί εδώ και πολλά χρόνια εδώ και πολλά χρόνια. Αν και τα «Βραβεία της Αμερικανικής Ακαδημίας Κινηματογράφου» ξεκίνησαν το 1927, τα βραβεία μουσικής και τραγουδιού άρχισαν να κυκλοφορούν από το 1934!
